Gastronomy

Portuguese cuisine is diverse. The Portuguese consume a lot of dry cod fish (bacalhau), for which there are hundreds of recipies.

The most typical desserts are rice pudding (decorated with cinnamon)  and caramel custard.
A popular pastry is the pastel de nata, a small custard tart sprinkled with cinnamon.

Other popular fish recipes are grilled  sardinnes and caldeirada ( made from potatoes and several types of fish)
